preprocessor doesnt' execute unless retag clicked
kellyrmilligan
I have a preprocessor working, but it doesnt' get executed until I hit retag. I have also the out of the box iwmthtmlproc running. iwmthtmlproc runs first, then my preprocessor. Any ideas? I am on MT 4.0.1 and TS 6.5 on solaris.

Kelly -
If the documents you are working with have already been tagged once (and have not been edited or modified), and then you select File:Tag in TeamSite all you are doing is asking Teamsite to display present tags.
If the document has never been tagged before then in TeamSite selecting File:Tag will kick off the MetaTagger.
If this is a test process that you are doing - you can remove the EAs on a document by running iwextatt -c from the command line on the file. This will blank the EAs, and then File:Tag will invoke MT.
Otherwise - ReTag is you friend.

Thanks for the response. Alas, it has reared it's ugly head again. Through some testing, users have found that if they modify a field that is being replicated down to the EA's through this preprocessor, when they hit tag on the file, the fields won't update unless retag is pressed. It sounds like you may be suggesting to blank them out in my script first(separate script, or the same?I'll try both), and then let the script run that replicates metadata.
Kind of just looking for verification on this, but if retag is the only option, that is probably fine as well.

The TAG button has a primary function - display the current existing tags on a document. Secondary function - if a tag fields have not been populated via MetaTagger previously - queue MetaTagger. So the tag button sounds as if it is working as designed. That is why there is a Re-Tag button on each MetaTagger field and a Re-Tag All button.
This may be more of a training issue then a technical issue.
Good luck
