make_l10n_input_with_roles_callout breaks if ...
Frederik
to whom it may concern ;-)
we just discovered a small bug in Teamsite Perl module, which doesn't seem to be mentioned here. I'll just copy the text I used for the support case. Maybe it will benefit somebody...
----------
subject : Usertask::make_l10n_input_with_roles_callout breaks if roles not in default path
We installed new Solaris DEV system with TS 6.5 SP2 + patch P62533
we noticed a small problem with the configurable_author_assignment.wft workflow in solutions folder, because that WFT looks for the author.uid file in the original location iw-home/conf/roles
The root cause is
-> function make_l10n_input_with_roles_callout in Usertask.pm under iw-home/iw-perl/vendor/lib/TeamSite
-> which calls iw-home/httpd/iw-bin/iwuserselect.cgi
-> which has a hardcoded location for the role files : my($roles_dir) = "$iwhome/conf/roles";
IMHO, This is silly, cause you can get the correct location with
- perl : TeamSite::Config::iwgetlocation('iwroles');
- clt : iw-home/bin/iwgetlocation iwroles
Extent of this bug?
- in iw-bin, iwuserselect.cgi is the only to refer to conf/roles directory)
- in iw-perl/vendor/lib/TeamSite, Usertask.pm is the only to refer to that iwuserselect.cgi
- both configurable_author_submit.wft + configurable_author_assignment.wft use the faulty make_l10n_input_with_roles_callout in Usertask.pm
maybe the solutions wft are not supported as such, but I believe that the Teamsite perl module is supported, and thus this bug is covered by support.

mmm, forgot to mention, our role files are at iw-home/local/config/roles, and there is a iwroles key under [locations] in iw.cfg

Yes, but this is really a chicken before the egg type thing. When the original code was written, it was likely that iwgetlocations for iwroles was not available yet. It's not really silly, they just missed updating that piece of code when they added new functionality. Definitely a bug, but it's easy to make a mistake like this when you are constantly enhancing your product.

You could make a symlink to fix this issue.
