Migrating content to Documentum D2 reposiotory

Hi,

I want to migrate my content from Sharepoint to D2. I want to understand how we can do this?

Earlier we could extract metadata in XML and content on filestore and write a standard DFC program to do the ingestion.

But now with D2 how we ca ndo this simply so that Auto naming, Auto linking, security, lifecycle etc can be applied?

What are the challenges? Has anyone done it?

Are there any easy tools or D2 jobs that can be used?

Hi,

You can use the D2CoreJob. When we migrate content (in our case we use FME Migration Center), we use a temporary folder and afterwards trigger the D2Corejob to run on the documents in this folder. This job sets the autolinking, acl's etc per D2 configuration.

Yes , use the D2CoreJob but you also can use (depending on the number of documents), directly via the D2JobImportMassCreate

The interoperability pdf mentions that D2Core method has limited features. For all features use D2FS. How can I use D2FS from standalone java code? Any example or sample to invoke complex D2 features and not just security, and autonaming?

In our case, it is supported; we use FME Migration Center that includes support for versions and run the D2CoreJob for setting the autolinking, security etc. This runs on all versions. We did not yet run into limitations with the D2CoreJob.
