Web service call

Hi All,

I am very new to D2, I need to triggers a web service call to validate one of the metadata that user enters with the other system (outside of Documentum). So if the value is valid then allow them to do what they want to. If not, proper message should be given.

How can I call the web service from D2?

Hi,

D2 does not provide any particular functionality that supports your case. You would need to invoke the web service by yourself using any Java technology you prefer and integrate that invocation in D2. Two integration approaches occur to me right now:

Create a D2 plugin that extends the D2PropertyService and validates the properties being saved by invoking the web service.
If you can list the possible values, have a Job invoking the Web Service and store the possible values as a D2 dictionary.

Can you please provide me an example of Creating a D2 plugin and how I can configure it to invoke web service call at the time of check-in?

I don't have a sample for a plugin. You have to read the available documentation and try to build one yourself. Check the other plugins and study their organization. This blob post has some information:

For the web service invocation that is "Java"-stuff and not "D2"-relate. You can find several examples just by doing a simple google search.
