can I provide dfs method as a webservice to other application

Hi Experts,

We have a requirement access the documentum 6.0 content server functionality from other application,Can I develop the custom dfs method it takes input parameters from other application and executes the conterserver logic based on input parameters given from other application and generates the output to the other application.If anybody knows Please provide the solution how can we achieve this functionality in documentum.

YES would be short answer.

Assuming you have DFS server side software to support and talk to your D6 repository then the developers of the "other application" just need to write a client for the DFS web service end points

Here my requirement,They will enter workflow id from other application and click on submit button then docujmentum webservice will invoke. dfs service need to take workflow id and get the attached folders id to this workflow id by using dql and generate and returns the output as drl links based on Folder Id.

dfs method is like this

public filderlinnks[] getFolderLinks(String workflowid,String username,String password )

{

getting workflow by dql

checks workflowid from other application is exists in documentum or not.

If exists

get the attached foldersid's to the corresponding workflowid

generates the below drl link and return the same folder link as output parameter

http://localhost:8081/webtop/drl/folderid/0c0228d08000417f

}

could you please tell me ,my above assumption approach is corect or not

Step2:If exists

If workflow has multiple attachments then dfs method should return multiple drl links as output parameter.

The above assumption is possible with dfs or not.

There is no out of the box web service method that will do this but DQL web service in DFS should be able to run the necessary queries.

Realistically you will probably have to write your own web service to wrap all this functionality into one single call

Sorry no, I have enough side projects on top of my day job already. Suggest you download the DFS SDK which has samples, include how to build custom services
