Documentum Upgrade -- 6.5 => 6.7

Hi,

I would like to know what the best way would be to upgrade. I have a Documentum Content Server in AIX, version 6.5 SP2 with Oracle 11. I would like to upgrade to version 6.7 SP2.

Question: Could it be possible to do it in a direct form or is it recommended to upgrade through 6.7 SP1 and later SP2?

Any links to support material would be appreciated.

We did the upgrade almost year back and our environment is very similar to yours. We upgraded from 6.5 SP1 to 6.7 SP1.

Our initial plan was to upgrade database and bring CS 6.5 SP1 up and running. After we upgraded the database, old CS 6.5 SP1 is not able to connect to new version of oracle, so we were forced to upgrade CS to 6.7 SP1. And installed 32 bit oracle client on CS host as CS 6.7 requires 32-bit client libraries to connect to the database.

Here are the sequence of steps we followed

- Upgrade Oracle to Oracle 11.2

- Install 32 bit client on content server host

- Upgrade the content server to 6.7 SP1 and repositories.

- Install the patches, most of the patches are cumulative, you can take latest patch and install it.

- Upgrade all remaining applications DA, Webtop etc which are fairly simple.

All I used is release notes and installation documents from support site. If you follow instructions in release notes and installation documents, it would be pretty much straight forward.

In the instalation of 6.7 SP1, Is it possible to directly switch to SP2 without any additional operations?

I have Orable 11.1 and need to updrade to 11.2 as suggested by you and the documentation. I read that going from 6.5 SP2 to 6.7 SP1 is rather simple and straight forward, but following I'd need to change to SP2, though I heard the this step is hard. Im currently reading "docu45896_Documentum-System-Upgrade-and-Migration-Guide-6.7-SP2-.pdf" to see the steps I need to follow for the installation, but I don't know if there is any additional guide out there.

In the document "Documentum_Administrator_Release_Notes_6.7_SP1.pdf" I found the following note:

Documentum Administrator 6.7 SP1

This release of Documentum Administrator consists only of bug fixes; there are no changes

Roberto,

You should be able to do an inplace (direct) upgrade to 6.7 SP2 from 6.5 SP3. The upgrade steps are in the migration document you had referred above. It should be straight forward as well.
