Design a Page: one user and more then one role

Hello,

I'm having the following difficulty in design a xCP 2.0 page: I need to design a user page with widgets that are especific by role.

A user (ex., user A) can be registered in several roles (ex., role X and Y). But we can have users registered with one role only.

In the case the user is registered in both roles is it possible to show a third page containing all the widgets this user should see?

technically in XCPDesigner you can't assign a role more than once in Role based pages so if you create a page and assign role X to it you wont be able to use Role X again for an other sub-page.

please note that a user can only assume one role at once ex : if you have 2 roles manager/admin you are going to be only a manager or admin ( role chooser in application parameter page)

so creating a 3rd role as mentioned by Vera is almost inevitable

From the system viewpoint , the solution works. But it´s not practical, because I have to create a page for each combination of role that a user may have...

since user can not assume more than one role at once [that explain why the variable returns only the current role] .you maye consider using roles to provide hierarchy in features.

creating pages related to a role allow you to profile your workspaces

I guess filtering widgets based on role is not a good idea because that assume that you going to query repository roles and filter this in the base master page

( you going to manage every combination of roles in once page and this supposing that users are only first level member cuz creating hierarchy of roles gonna make it more fun )

but if you want to do that anyway you can try to override :

In designer you should create three roles, x,y and z.You should create:

Master Page A for role x

Master Page B for role y

and Master Page C for role z (z will contain everything that role X and role Y should have)

Then in DA assign users for every role.

From the system viewpoint , the solution works. But it´s not practical, because I have to create a page for each combination of role that a user may have.

And if you have a combination of roles that do not exist the equivalent page, I have to create a completely new page.

In xCP Designer, there is a standard Bussines Object called "Current User", that I can use in expressions, that have 2 attributes: Role Label (currentUserRoleLabel) and Role System Name (currentUserRole).

If a user exists in 2 roles this atributes only return one of them, so I can use these attributes to Hide a widget.

If exists an attribute ou function that returns list of user roles, it´s possible to create a logic to hide widgets.

I think that my example is a lot easier to be done.when you start designing the logic for every widget it can get a bitt messy.also it is a lot easier to design the page when it is done as i suggested.
