Teamsite Metadata Capture

Hi,

Teamsite 6.5
Windows Svr 2003

Our client has opted not to purchase MetaTagger so we are using Teamsite's Metadata CGI (iwmetadata.cgi).

We want to pre-populate a field in the Metadata Capture UI. The field is one of the DCR fields - happens to be "Title"

What's the recommended pratice? Do I add that metadata field when I generate the page? Or is there a way to pick it up with a callout in the global Datacapture.cfg?

Any advice much appreciated

You can put a wrapper script around the call to iwmetadata.cgi that first extracts the title information from the file being tagged, if possible, then uses iwextattr to set it as an EA on the file before calling iwmetadata.cgi -- this will thus prepopulate that field of the metadata capture form.

If you want to do this via a callout on the metadata capture form, you'll need a patch from Interwoven as the OOTB metadata capture form in 6.5 does not make the path/name of the file being tagged accessible to the callout script.
