getting checking file in TBO

Hi Experts,

i would like to get the checkin file in my TBO do some processing during check in from the checking in xml content. i am calling the

doCheckin method in my TBO to perform the funcationality. Could you please help me how to get the checked in file.. Is there any OOTB method to achieve this. Thanks in advance.

If you use the getFile() method with no input parameters, it should default to the location and filename used to checkout the file (assuming it is checked out).

File file = new File(sysObject.getFile());

You could also create a WDK component or extend the Webtop Checkin component to achieve this.

Are you just trying to get the content of the file or the file on the disk? The DFC provides methods for both of these capabilities (IDfSysObject.getContent(), and IDfSysObject.getFile()). I wrote about TBOs here, perhaps you will find something useful.

Thank you so much for your helpful answers.I really appreciate that. Actually my request is to retreive the content which is local check out folder during run time before check in back to the docbase. I have used the below code in my TBO but it doesn't retreive the file from the local check out directory. I apologize for not giving the clear explanation...

IDfSysObject sysObj = (IDfSysObject)session.getObject(this.getObjectId());

String objectName = sysObj.getObjectName();

File file = new File(sysObj.getFile(objectName));

In other words, i would require the result something like C:\documentum\checkout\abc_1.xml so that i can read the xml to identify some tags in it. Could you please advice on this.

Dear Scott,

Thank you for the suggestion. Now i am able to read the file using the getFile with empty argument but unfortunately the xml file which i am able to get in the server location is just a link file not the whole virtual document xml file. Normally users will checkout the virtual documents from root document and i have to read the whole xml file. Kindly advice.

I tried to use clientRegistry to read the file from client machine but its showing the server check out path. Is there a way to change the clientRegistry to show the cilent machine check out folder. Kindly advice on this. Thanks in advance.

thank you for helping on this question. finally i determined that TBO docheckin() Method returns object ids which are modified in the virtual document. So i am able to work on the xml document after check in and do the processing. Once again thank you for helping me out..
