Hello Experts,
What are you doing to overcome UCF errors?
Thanks in advance
HI Imran,
can you specify what do you mean by UCF Errors ?
if your issue is related to security lock caused by ORACLE JRE Updates you may check hotfixe related to you product that provide Applet signature
if you may add more details that would be helpfull
Otman
Thank you very much for the information. Actually, I had solved almost every single ucf problem about two years ago. Then I was away for a while. Now, I encounter many issues due to the new java versions and none of my previous tricks solve them.
So, possibly the hot fix might be a good starting point. Please give me its download location. Does UCF support new java versions anyway? Jre 7 has new security features etc.
It is a general problem for all application using applets to interact with user host
Is our case UCF or CTA( content transfer agent ). It is mainlly a security and support issue
EMC provided hot fixes for this by signing the UCF applet using the JRE 1.7 with update 21/25/45
Please be carefull with the chosen patch since the current release of Java is 1.7 update 53 and the applet is not signed yet for this one
You may also consider blocking JAVA updates ( GPO Policies ) and installing JRE that provide the option to block the auto update. And also not installing the latest one ( since it is not signed yet)
Basically, I am an employee of a software development company and I don't have the right to go and install something on a customers user's computer. On the other hand, why should I do that anyways. If we are going to install additional software on client's machine, then how could we call taskspace web based. We could offer a desktop application instead.
My customers are complaining about the problems and EMC should fix this issues as soon as possible; however, they offered me to install VmWare Thin upp. or something. to handle UCF issues. So, I decided to ask the forum if there is someone using it already.
hi Imran ,
the issue is not related to you role in the company but to the fact the Sytem administrator sometime run major updates in the envirement without considering side effects related to that and users that has admin rights that can update to future version of JRE.
i just had the same issues with 3 of my customers ( lucky me ) and to solve/Avoid this we did the following
- if users did run auto update by them self they can rollback by calling the support of the company
- if The update of the JRE has been done by GPO to JRE 7
to answer the 2nd part of your question regarding that taskspace is a web base application.
yes it is but to allow interaction between web app the file system we use activix or appelt that are signed ( i guess all product use the same concept )
"EMC should fixe the issue quick" the hotfix is just providing the applet that is signed with the released version of the JRE. but since we have many updates ( current 1.7 u 53) i guess it is better to block the main cause of this which is JRE autoupdate
hope this helps
Could you tell me where is the hotfix?
Hi,
it depends on the product i assume taskspace or webtop.
please connect to subscrie net using your customer account. or ask the support team to provide the hotfixe related to your version of the application and the current targeted JRE to be installed ( or already )
EMC Support doesnt provide single fixes, but all are included in Patch Releases.
In the patch release documentation you also find the JRE supported (i.e. from which Patch).
EMC add every 3 months new JRE support starting from 6.7SP1.
In the latest Patch Release, 1.7..0_51 supported(JRE version 1.7.51 is certified for D6.7SP1, D6.7SP2 & D7.1 stack)
