Backward compatibility of the DFC API

Dear developer-forum,

my company is developing an enterprise application for EMC Documentum which makes extensive use of the DFC API. So far we are supporting Version 6.5 and 6.6. Severals customers would like to have support for Version 6.7, 7.0 and 7.1. I have done some research if the DFC API is backward compatible from 7.1 to 6.6 but could not find any documentation. Is there a documentation of the changes done to the DFC API for the different version or is it safe to say that the API is completely backward compatible?

DFC7.1 Release Notes :

Product documentation might contain references to client applications and

functionality that are not supported in the 7.x release, though these applications

and functionality may become compatible in a future release. Only those client

applications documented as compatible in the EMC Documentum 7.x Environment

and System Requirements Guide are supported in 7.x.

Check docu50512_Documentum_7.1_Environment_and_System_Requirements_Guide_.pdf, pages 40 & 63 for the compatibility of DFC7.1 with Content Server product.

The Upgrade and Migration Guides have a section on migrating DFC customizations.

You can also check the release notes for each version of Content Server to see if there are any changes that may affect your application.

DFC is a component of Content Server - the search I provided is for upgrade and migration information for Content Server. There is no separate documentation for DFC.

You can start with the relevant Upgrade and Migration Guides:

Try pasting those links in a different browser. There's some problem with the sessions when logged in the community, and sometimes you'll get that page...
