Including external file into deployment config

Is there a way in OD 6.0.2 to include/insert/"inline" common XML snippets from an external file into a deployment configuration file? This might be useful, for example, if you wanted to share/reuse filters across deployment configurations.

Any other ideas?

To the best of my knowledge - no.
The external settings are basically limited to the nodes / replicationFarms in the odnodes.xml file
Sounds like a potential feature request though ... perhaps you should file it.
