Content Center Standard Performance
jagiyer
Hello,
We have Teamsite 6.1 Installed on Solaris 8 Server. Recently,We installed SP2 but only to find that it degraded the Performance of the Content Center
Standard.
We have Portlets like My jobs,My favorites,To Do List etc as part of the UI in Content Center Standard.
It takes anywhere between 12 to 15 minutes to load the CCStd home page after login. This Problem was observed after the installation of TS SP2.
We have TS6.1 Without SP2 on Production and it takes hardly 1 minute for the CCStd home page to load on the Production.
We are not getting any errors except the CCStd page loading has been very slow on the development server.
Please let me know if you have faced the same problem after installing SP2 for TS 6.1 on Solaris Server.
Appreciate your Suggestions to resolve this Issue.
Thanks in Advance.............
Regards
Jag....

This does not seem standard.. Is this happening for all users or only for some users? Are the number of workareas or modified files in the workarea very different from that in production? The two main factors that influence the performance of the CC Std Home page are the number of workareas that the user has (My Workareas portlet) and the number of modified files (My Work-in-Progress portlet). The My Workareas portlet has a property that allows the user to select only the interesting workareas and limit the number.
In any case, 10-12 minutes load time seems to indicate that there is a larger problem here and so I would contact Tech Support and open a case.

ITs pretty well documented through posts that if you have more than one workarea selected and in my experience, lots of modified files, then you do indeed get this type of performance.Im surprised Mr Zevin hasnt chipped in here yet!
There have been lots of posts re: this subject and some workarounds. It is my understanding that this is one of the reasons behind the fix of putting in the 'edit my workareas'. Other users on here seem to be of an opiniont hat you are better off in Professional, but if you can live witha only having a single workarea and are a basic use author, then I would have to say I think that Standard has its uses.

Thank you all for your inputs.
The Work around turned out to be Simple and is listed in the SP2 Release notes for TS 6.1.
57449 Potential performance problems in ContentCenter interfaces when listing DCRs
in directories containing very large numbers of DCRs.
Workaround: Turn on pagination for the ContentCenter Interfaces.
