serialized deployment

I have a deployment that has 2 execDeploymentTasks. I would like to run them serially. Is there a way to do this in one deployment or do I have to run the second with a DNR in order to get them to run in serial?

I believe you would need to use a DNR script in order to run it serially and transactionally. If you don't care about transactionality - then you have more options depending on how the deployment is getting invoked in the first place (e.g., if run from a workflow - the script that runs it could run one, then the other - it would be serial but not transactional accross the multiple deployments)

If each execDeploymentTask is going to the same target replication farm, you can restructure as a multiple sub-source pattern to achieve serialization. There's an example in the OD 6.0.2 Admin Guide on page 170.

Good catch. I hadn't thought of the possibility that the deployments could be combined within a single definition for the situation as specified, but to pay my dues:

pre-6.0.2 config syntax
- multiple sourceFilesystem or sourceTeamsite elements within a single source element
- multiple pathSpecification elements within the same sourceFilesystem or sourceTeamSite elements
6.0.2 config syntax
- multiple remoteDiff, areaDiff, or filelist elements within an iwStore element
- multiple remoteDiff or filelist elements within a fileSystem element
- multiple pathSpecification elements within the same remoteDiff, areaDiff, or payload elements

I think that covers the matrix...
