Customizing CC's Display of Categories

first off... environment:
teamsite 6.5 sp2
windows 2k server

we are trying to figure out a way to customize the order in which categories are displayed in CCPro. I've been going through the ui toolkit material for a couple of hours and have a better understanding of the concepts involved, but still haven't been able to form a complete picture of how one may do this.

Is there a way to order categories in the tree/file manager section of CC?

I will continue to learn about the ui toolkit, but was hoping someone could lend some guidance. i attached a snippit of a screen shot to illustrate the section i'm interested in customizing... just in case i'm not clear in my terminology.

Pardon me for asking, but how is your screenshot different from a regular, uncustomized implementation? I see where you have categories listed but do not immediately see how your listing is different from a vanilla version.

heh, i only used the screen shot as an illustration of _what_ i want to customize... not what was customized (which in my case... is nothing... because i don't fully understand the _how_ right now... which is what i am posting for).
