Some of my users are facing the problem with MetaTagger. When the user tries to tag something or browse the Taxonomy, the MetaTagger hangs up and locks the browser.

Any clue why this is happening

When you say browse the taxonomy I assume you mean in MTStudio? What version of MT are you running?

Three questions -
TaggerUI in TeamSite or MT UI (Admin, Studio, ...)?
File Size
Software versions

Locking up the browser is very odd. Long delays could be a result of processing very large files.

1. TeamSite Tagger UI
2. File size varied. Mostly small files, from a few KB to a few hundred KB
3. TS6.5 SP1, MT 4.0.1 on Windows 2003, browse IE 6.0.2800

Three thoughts on how to get to the details

- if the TagUI freezes, try pinging the MT server using the Java API (see http://devnet.interwoven.com/site.fcgi/techlib/54486 for a simple servlet example), to see if the Server is still alive. If it isn't this is one for support.

- Try using the standalone servlet or iwgenmetadata to see what the processing time is.

- Post with an attached zip file of your metatagger.cfg and *.smf. We can see if there are any really compute-intensive models in use.

BTW - what is the average CPU and Memory utilization on your server? If the machine is maxed out on CPU and/or going virtual, it can slow down to a crawl.
