/System/XcpApplications and older xcp_artifact_bundle cleanup?

Hello.

In an xCP 2.1 environment listing the contents of /System/XcpApplications folder one may see a list of folders each one comprising the name of the application deployed and the deployment date. Inside these folders is a reference to an xcp_artifact_bundle object, which in my case uses around 143MB of disk space.

The problem is: every deployment made causes a new version of the xcp_artifact_bundle and a new folder for the deployed application and this causes a continuous consumption of the disk space available for the content files.

Does anyone know if the older versions are used somehow and how a safe cleanup can be accomplished?

hi,

i suppose this is new related to XCP 2.1.

it look like install is making version of the application

i don't think a clean up is an option since many objects are linked to all folders ( Ex. dmc_wfsd_element_parent objects )

you may use the preview option to avoir unnecessary install and i guess the impact on production env is minimal since you wont have as many deployment as in your local/dev env.

I also have noticed that xCP Designer/XMS does weird things when deploying applications:

it uploads war archive to docbase (large files you are talking about, thinks it's "new feature" of 2.1, actually - not, in 2.0 deployer did the same, but wars were much smaller)
it uploads configured endpoints to docbase too (higher pages of xcp_artifact_bundle and dmc_xcp_app_config objects) - it's totally insecure
it registers known artifacts (types, processes, etc) in xcp_artifact_bundle.installedobjectid column and xcp uses this information in runtime

I think remove old xcp_artifact_bundle objects is not a good idea, but you can remove its content using removecontent IAPI command
