Documentum 24/7 availability

We would like to make our Documentum environment available 24/7.

If anyone has some advice on any potential issues this may bring, I would be very grateful.

I would particularly like to know how others are managing deployments and cache clearing as well as general system housekeeping.

(Our Documentum build for this environment is 6.7 SP2).

Thanks for getting back to me.

We currently shut-down our Documentum processes for a short time each night, and during this 'down-time' interval, we clear the following cache :

/edrms/dmadmin/local/cache.

For our 'tomcat' processes, we clear the following :

${CATALINA_HOME}/work/Catalina

${HOME}/documentum/shared/cache

These directories contains TBO-jars downloaded from docbase. I can't find any reason why you are performing cleanup of these directories every night. Do you install TBOs every night? Even if you do so, DFC should handle TBO updates correctly.


${CATALINA_HOME}/work/Catalina

This directory contains compiled JSPs, it isn't a cache. What is the reason to perform cleanup of this directory?

Agreed there is no reason you have clear these directories everyday. I would be more concerned about things like high availability on JMS, xPlore etc if that applied to you.

I am sorry but you will have to be little more specific in what you are asking for. Memory leaks in 24/7 environment doesnt make a lot of sense to me as 24/7 is about environment setup and memory leaks are product/code issues. I couldn't relate these two together as how can 24/7 result in MLs.
