TBO Query

Hi,

We have a created a custom TBO for a custom object type, which is supposed to create a file in a particular location in the Content Server.

When an object this custom type is created from the Webtop/DA application the intended file is getting created in the same location in the Application Server, but not the Content Server.

Please suggest.

Do you create then new object, set the content and then save the object properly ?

It seems to me you create the object, save it, then create the content and set it to the object but don't save the object again... but no way to be sure without seeing the code

Dear Francois,

We want to create a log file in a particular location in the Content Server with adding some metadata of the object created into this log file.

This file is not related to the actual content of the object. We are not facing any issue related to the content of the object. We are trying to create another file in the Content Server.

Hope this clarifies.

TBOs will be executed in the application server which means you cannot create a temp file in CS machine. You can create a repository object instead

Yesp, understood.

As Hari says, the file will be created on the client machine that launches the TBO, in this case, the App Server and indeed, the easiest is to create your log file in the repository itself.

TBO's are generally executed from where they are called. In this scenario, TBO will be executed on the box where Webtop/DA is installed which is your App server.

If your business scenario is to create a file on the content server box on creation of object of custom type. Then, Trigger a method from your TBO code which will be executed on the Method Server. If MS is installed in the same box where CS is installed, then the file will be created on the Content Server side.
