Workflow not invoked after save(Finish) DCR in 6.5

This works fine in 5.5.2. Problem while upgrading to 6.5

1. Env : TS 6.5, Content Center Professional(CCP), windows 2003 enterprise

2. I have CCP, made changes in application_custom.xml , compiled using make_toolkit.ipl and restarted the server.

How can I check, whether CCP took that values from .

3. What are the different check points I can follow
to run a workflow in 6.5 successfully.

4. I am sure, the workflow is not started, otherwise, where can I find
the error message, like workflow not found or errors in workflow, it aborted.

5. Initially I didn't find this iwjoberrors.log file on my server, I
just created a text file with the name. It is always showing 0 size.
Does it give any reason for error?

Are you expecting the workflow to start when you "Save" the DCR?
I think it works (assuming everything else is configured correctly) on "Finish" (or "Next") button and not "Save".

Have you run make_toolkit.ipl to recompile the webapp after making this change?

Do you have anything in the iwtrace.log or iwserver.log file?

Are you using event reporting, if so, you may want to check those logs out.

I deleted all jobs and tasks, How can I check still it is there under another wf?

autoprivate does not matter, ignore those.

Select the DCR and do a file properties. It will tell you if it is part of a
task.

You really should not be submitting and changing files that are part of a
current WF. That is a bad idea.

In your workflow, make the system lock the DCR as root/admin. Then
no one can edit it while it is in the approval process. When the lock is gone
then make your changes

It is not part of a task or existing work flow.
Just I am testing, so I am submitting and changing files.

Is this 6.5 or 6.5 SP1?

I'm not sure about the former, but in the latter I have not needed to do the make_toolkits thing to get the option for submitting a DCR after clicking finish - the tt_data in the available_templates.cfg file has been enough.

However - I think your branch path in the available_templates.cfg file might be the problem. Try changing it to:

As I recall, templating does not provide a full areavpath - only a branch vpath - and as such, your fully specified branch path directive may have failed to match.

Here HA888_95 is sub branch, It has 10 templates. This workflow should be initiated for only 4 templates. So I need to specify full path.
Then it will match only 4. The version is 6.5 sp 1.

But there is no way to check the user settings like use tt_data in custom xml file. There should be some (at least disabled) interface to see the user custom settings.

I don't believe the product supports what you're trying to accomplish out-of-the-box.
If you instead use a workflow *within which* you create DCRs - you'll have more control over which DCR-types are available within the workflow and can programmatically control what goes on for each type. It takes a bit more design work to develop such a workflow but in the end you have more control over the entire user experience.

Actually, I am not developing anything new, the workflow for selected DCTs is working
fine in 5.5.2. Just I am porting to 6.5 sp1. So there is no question for out-of-the-box.

My problem is tt_data is not invoking the respective workflow. But when I am submitting
the DCR it is invoking the workflow, if command is submit.

This seems to contridict the available_templates.cfg you posted. This WF should not be
invoked on submit but should be invoked on tt_data

I suggest you follow-up with Support. As I stated in my previous responses, I don't believe templating provides a full down-to-the-directory-level vpath to the workflow instantiator, so providing such a restriction with your branch_list settings in available_templates.cfg is likely to be the reason why you don't get prompted when finishing the DCT.

If you change it to just the branch vpath, as previously suggested, does it work then? (i.e. validate my theory)

If so - that's a partial solution as it doesn't restrict itself to just the DCT-types or directories you want it to.

- Yes, that is working.. but it is against to my existing 5.5.2 application, based on the data-type select a particular workflow. Is it something new in 6.5?
- Even with full vpath(defining with dataype), it is working for submit command instead of tt_data..

submit and new_job have always provided the full areavpath context for processing the available_templates.cfg.
tt_data has historically *not* provided the full areavpath context, just the branch areavpath (perhaps the workarea?) for processing the available_templates.cfg

This has been raised numerous times - the general response is that the directive says branch_list and thus it isn't supposed to provide more than that - feel free to argue the point with Interwoven.

Thanks ghoti. That is true, now they confirmed that branch value should not have path up to directory level for tt_data.

So now my available templates.cfg contains 4 different work flows for branch.
These 4 should be invoke when a respective template(total 10) is saved. How can we
relate a particular DCR saving to invoke a specific workflow? I guess, I can try by using FormAPI, any suggestions please…

The only thing I can think of right now - is a wrapper workflow.

Create a single workflow configured for that branch and for tt_data.
Have that workflow look at the attached DCR to determine which other workflow should instead be run, have it run the other workflow (either via a wftask, externaltask - using iwwft_compile.ipl, or a cgitask - prompting for the information and then using iwwft_compile.ipl) - and then the wrapper workflow transitions to an endtask.
