Teamsite Solaris Installation
sabih
I am trying to install Teamsite on Solaris. I have successfully gunzipped the files to a directory 'Teamsite'. Now according to the installation manual, I need to run the following command to start the Teamsite installation:
# ./install.sh -i console
when I run that, I am getting the following error:
Preparing to install...
Extracting the JRE from the installer archive...
Unpacking the JRE...
Extracting the installtion resources from the installer archive...
Configuring the installer fro this system's environment...
Launching installer...
./InstallerData/private.bin: /tmp/install.dir.982/Solaris/resource/jre/bin/java: cannot execute
Any idea what should I do to fix that?

What is the version of Solaris OS?
Check if all the Java required patches are installed or not.
sabih
drwxrwxr-x root bin Teamsite
The command is executed as root.

I am running Solaris 10. I don't know exactly how to check for Java patches.

HI,
don't think this is a java patch issue, it's not looking at /usr/java.
I haven't done a binary install of TS in a long time, does the string:
/tmp/install.dir.982/Solaris/resource/jre/bin/java: cannot execute
refer to /tmp and not a tmp dir in the install structure ? If it is /tmp,
check the permissions there, on most Solaris boxen they are:
drwxrwxrwt 13 root sys 1738 Sep 7 15:40 tmp
anyway, to check java patches, I think somewhere IW posts a
list for each Solaris OS. Get that and run it up against showrev -p | grep patchnumber.
BTW, what's the mode on /tmp/install.dir.982/Solaris/resource/jre/bin/java ?

Which version of TS ?
Whats the size of the partition for /tmp?
I know it sounds irrelevant but TS installation requires certain amount of space in /tmp. If not, the error message is(atleast for 6.1) misleading.

Hi,
Don't think Solaris 10 is supported. At least it's not in the Server Platforms
section of this 6.5 release note:
https://support.interwoven.com/library/manuals/teamsite/html/650/TS/ts.rn/techinfo2.html#wp1021926
but, then again, we have no idea what version of TS you're attempting to install yet.

I think tmp size could be one of the issues. Also after running showrev -p, the list of the patches show 116299-08 and 116303-02. The /tmp directory available space is 180835. Is it enough? Also I am trying to install Teamsite 6.5 on x86 Solaris 10.

... Also I am trying to install Teamsite 6.5 on x86 Solaris 10 ...
Check the documentation. I don't think x86 was ever a supported platform.

X86 was never supported and likely never will be

Is Linux OS a supported platform? What other platforms are supported other than Windows NT and 2000?

my bad, I thought it was suported, but not on any docs I can find.
AIX is the other OS that is supported.

wishful thinking? ;-)
or maybe you just confused it with OpenDeploy, which is supported on Linux...

I recommend you file a feature request for Solaris X x86 support. I know of at least one other company that would like to see support for that OS

Hi,
Well, depending on what util you are using the get the /tmp size (I assume df -k),
around 180mb should be sufficient. The size of /tmp however has little baring
on a permission denied error. I still do not believe Solaris 10 x86 is a supported
OS. from the 6.5 release notes:
This section describes supported operating systems and other requirements for TeamSite 6.5 Content Server.
Server Platforms
* Solaris 8 or Solaris 9 (Recommended Patch Cluster Date: Oct/11/04)

There is a version that is supported on Linux (on Intel hardware) - TeamSite 6.1 Workgroup Edition for Linux. We currently support Red Hat ES 3.0. Please check
https://support.interwoven.com/resources/products/compatibility/teamsite_Linux.asp
for more details. Please note that there is no Linux support for TS 6.5, but we are making Linux a first-tier platform for TeamSite (Windows, Solaris and Linux will ship at the same time) starting with TS 6.7.1 due to be released in Q2 2006. We are looking to provide support for Red Hat ES and AS 4.0 on Intel hardware.
thanks
