Creating duplicate files

One of our requirements is when we create a web page in english and save it, the system should create a french page beside the english page, not translated. Just an extra page which end with _f (for french) or anything else as long as it is different name to distinguish it from the english version. The user than go to that page and add the french content. Is interwoven capable of automatically doing this without any scripting? If scripting is needed where would it be done? Thanks

Yes, this can be done and is a fairly common requirement. But, of course you'll have to do some scripting / customization!
I suggest having a workflow kick off whenever anyone saves an English page of this type. The first task in your workflow could be a presentation template generating an English page and you could re-invoke the presentation template to output the same thing but with a "_f" extension. Your workflow would later email someone to go and translate the "_f" copy.

Yes, it ca easily be done iwth minor scripting. Where ? Depends on where you want it.
If you are using templates, that is the easiest. You can do it in a workflow, that is not too tough but
you may want it done before a workflow is run. Finally you can write a trigger to do it, on the create
event. A little more complex, because a trigger running can cause another trigger to fire. Thus when it
is done incorrectly, you will create a file foo, which causes a trigger to create foo_f, which cause a
trigger to create foo_f_f until you run out of inodes. Of course we would all get a good laugh out
of it, but that does not help you. It would be easy to code that exception in the trigger.
