MT 4.0 & Large Files

After configuring Metatagger for auto tagging, we are still having issues with Metatagger and it's handling of large files (>6MB). Some of our documents consist of pdfs, docs, xls and ppts. Are there any REAL suggestions as to how we can acheive *some* success with these file sizes?

What kind of problems are you having ? I did 30 MB PDFs on a 5.5.2/3.5 implementation
on SOlaris. It may be that your PC is over taxed.

IIRC, I needed to change the Apache Webserver Timeout to accomidate longer running times.

BTW, I also did a large batch implementation, then the only real long MT load was when a new doc
was imported.

Reggie,

Some suggestions:

1 - If you can, avoid using phrase mode in the parse rack phase as it will be slower (especially with spreadsheets).
2 - Add a preprocessor to truncate the input text to the models after some limit. MT 3.x would truncate the text after 1 MB, MT 4.x processes the whole thing.
3 - Post a zip of your metatagger.cfg and *.smf files. There might be some simple tricks to make it run faster.
