Call Server Delay

I created a script yesterday using a CallServer and it was overriding a drop down menu instantaneously at the load time. Today I am having a few seconds delay for the same. Are there any possible reason that can result in the CallServer delay?

Since a callserver makes a request to the webserver to get the data it could be related to network lag or system load. Adding some alerts may help identify where the slowdown is.
