Replace the path?

I want to chang the path in the workflow of Teamsie,
i write codes like that,but the output is wrong.
I don't know how happen,anybody give me some suggestion.

my $WA1 = "/default/main/Branch1/WORKAREA/WA1";
$WA1 = ~s/Branch1/Branch2/;
print "WA = $WA1\n";
I want the string: /default/main/Branch2/WORKAREA/WA1
But the output is: WA = 4294967295

your syntax is
wrong -- $WA1 = ~s/Branch1/Branch2/;
right -- $WA1 =~ s/Branch1/Branch2/;

you could not use space between = & ~
