DM_DFC_E_CLASS_NOT_FOUND error when refreshing Process Data in Process Debugger

Using Documentum v7.1 with xCP v2.1

While trying to debug a workflow process in the xCP Designer WF Debugger, I get the error:

DM_DFC_E_CLASS_NOT_FOUND Error: Unable to instantiate the necessary java class com.documentum.cis.annotation.AnnotationAspect

whenever I attempt to refresh the Process Data. The workflow itself executes fine when it is run (even outside the debugger), but I am trying to run some what-if scenarios via the debugger and am not able to examine the process data.

Any ideas what this error is caused by?

It's been awhile, but if I recall my problem was that the DCTM cache for Designer was not updating properly (C:\xCPDesigner\documentum\cache). Once we cleared it, all seemed to work ok again...
