D2 Premium / XMetaL / BTM uses CAD files Editing / Authoring

Hello All,

Does D2 Premium supports Auto CAD files editing ? Can we think of replacing Arbortext PTC tool for authoring of CAD files to D2 ?

Anyone did in past or any knowledge on the same ?

Want to replace Arbortext PTC editor with any other tool..

a. XMetaL tool have capability to edit / author the Auto CAD files ?

b. Is BTM bridge tool useful for editing CAD files..

By default, any file format is supported in any Documentum client.

However, the thing with CAD files is that usually, a complete drawing is not only 1 file, it's multiple files, CAD and Raster (typically).

XMetal won't be able to handle that. BTM will.

Sorry for the shameless self promotion but here are some details on some our products

DRAWbridge integrates D2/Webtop into AutoCAD directly. That measn that from autoCAD, the users will be able to open, import checkin, etc drawings, including their external references (both raster and vector). It will also allow you to synchronize the drawing's title block with the Documentum metadata of the document, thus avoiding inconsistencies between the content and the metadata.

On top of that, we also have an integration with the Brava viewer that will allow vieing CAd drawings with their references. We also have RENDERbridge to generate PDF and TIFF (sooon to come DWF and DWFx, both 2D and 3D). RENDErbridge uses autoCAD to generate the rendition which means that whatever configuration is defined in the drawing will be used (including resymbolization, paper size, orientation,....)
