Oracle's system password required even if I chose "Use existing ORACLE user account and database"

Hello!

I'm installing a fresh Documentum Content Server 7.1. During the creation of a new repository I'm asked to chose between "Create a new Oracle user account and tablespaces" and "Use existing Oracle user account and tablespaces".

Even if I select "Use existing Oracle user account and tablespaces", I'm still asked to provide the Oracle system's password. This was not the case in previous versions (see attached PDF).

Therefore, sounds like I have two options:

1. Ask the Oracle DBA the system's password or

2. Ask the Oracle DBA the be besides me each DCTM installation so that he can type the system's password

I don't like it. Is there any other way of doing this?

Hello ,

This is because while configuring the repository which will act as the Global Registry the installer will create the "dms" user in the database. Until now there's no way to workaround this.

Thanks for you reply however, what you say is not true. The installer will create the database user (a.k.a Docbase Owner) in case you chose the first option: "Create a new Oracle user account and tablespaces". From the moment that I use the second one "Use existing Oracle user account and tablespaces", it means that I have a database user already. Again, if I have already a tablespace and user, why do I need the system's password? In a installation perspective, it's terrible depending on the DBA every time I install a new repository. Take a look in the attached document that you will see what I mean. In previous version of the Content Server, I've had this "flexibility".

Hello ,

I understand what your are saying and your are correct while expecting the installer to not ask for admin rights.

But the 7.1 documentation and EMC Support say that this is still necessary due to the need to create the "dms" user which is needed for the DMS component and this is NOT the Docbase Owner.

If you still don't understand this you may go and read the documentation or better raise a service ticket so EMC will have better chances to understand our concerns.

Now it's clear. Quite annoying. Moreover, I do not see anything about it in the installation guide... AND, additionally, I'm not planning to use this feature so, as you say, let's raise a ticket ...
