Deploying D2Method as module

I believe there are two ways of deploying a method. BOF 1.0 and 2.0

We create jardef as implementation jar and then create module with same name as the class mentioned in jardef impl jar.

The other way is to deploy the jar at dmserver/severapps.ear/lib

For a method implementing D2Method, does the module way work. Also, is there change in the steps or mentioning verb for deploying it as module.

The verb for any d2 method i know id to be mentioned as

com.emc.d2.api.methods.D2Method -class_name com.package.subpackage.method.CustomCLassName

Please can someone explain the minute details we need to take care while deploying method implementing D2Method using jardef and module in composer.

Hi,

In our project we have 2 ways of calling a custom dm_method in D2:

1. From a lifecycle action (see screenshot)

For this we create a custom class that implements IDfModule (not D2Method); In Composer we create the dm_module, dmc_jar definition and a dm_method Artifacts (like you described)

2. From a custom menu item in 2 ways:

  a. Action Calling service's method (see screenshot)

  Message: -class_name==com.company.methods.d2.MyClass!!arg1==test!!arg2==test2!!local==true

  b. Publish D2_ACTION_EXECUTE event (see screenshot)

  Message: rType==EVENT!!rAction==D2_EVENT_TASK_PROCESSED!!oam_id==1000000000000000!!eMethod==executeMethod!!eService==Method!!-class_name==com.company.methods.d2.MyClass!!arg1==test!!arg2==test2!!local==true

For this we create a custom class that implements ID2Method (not D2Method); The class/jar file is deployed directly on the D2 app server under the WEB-INF directory (because local==true)

If local==false you should indeed be able to deploy the jar to the JMS, but we never got that working.

Then the next step should indeed be to implement it as BOF module; we tried but also never got that working.
