th tag in tables w/VF?

Has anyone had any luck with adding <th> tags when creating tables with visual format? Is so how did you get VF to know when to use <th> or not?

I'm trying to find a solution for this as well.

I think I'll instruct the users to apply a heading tag to the top row cells. Not the cleanest solution, but a solution none the less.
