5.5.2 --> 6.5 encoding and formatting issues

Hello,

I'm upgrading to 6.5 and when I save a dcr in 6.5 it now does not encode the ' and " the same as it did before. It also does not format the DCR the same way even though pretty_print_dcr is set to true. Missing tabs and the non-encoded characters will cause a real difference in the DCR when saved. I'm concerned about this causing merge issuesbwhen 6.5 gets introduced as our production system.

Why am I seeing this behavior? and what is the purpose.

How can I fix it? and what is the impact.

I'm not sure about the encoding, but I noticed the 'pretty_print' muck up too.

I'm also not sure whether it has any relationship to either - but I noticed that Perl's XML::Twig in earlier releases of TS (using an ancient version of Perl) did a much better job of pretty printing than it does in the current version (with a newer version of Perl)

The change in formatting of the XML should not affect a good diff program, which can be told to ignore white-space differences (as long as the newlines between elements are consistent).

However - you probably should open a case with IWOV Support for this.

Thanks. I think the merge issue will be impacted more by the encoding anyway. Thanks for the tip about the white space differences. Is that a feature of the IW diff tool?
