Next release of the ECM solution?
Bill Klish
When is the next version of the ECM solution going to be released? We are looking to integrate MediaBin and TeamSite and would like to leverage this component

What kind of Integration you are looking for?
well, you could access the MediaBin Repository from TeamSite.

The ECM solution already provides this for you. No reason to reinvent the wheel. The current latest release of the ECM solution (Version 1.1) was mostly not written using the CS SDK. I was hoping the next release would improve upon that.
If there is no next release, I suppose we could just convert the perl code that is there now.

There is a next release planned called ECM Connector 2.0. It is currently in beta. It allows a TeamSite user to grab assets (including metadata) from either MediaBin or WorkSite MP.
Let me know if you have interest and I'll route your request accordingly.

Thanks for the information Todd. We have done a pilot project using ECM Connector version 1.1 and got a positive response. The client wants to move forward, but some of the requirements aren't covered in that release. Was checking on the timeframe for 2.0 to see if we should wait, or write some custom code around version 1.1. Please send me the information on 2.0.
Thanks,

Sorry - internal miscommunication w.r.t. dashes and underscores. It should work now.

ECM Connector 2.0 enables web authors pull and transform content from both the MediaBin Digital Asset Management system and WorkSiteMP Collaborative Document Management system with simplicity and security not previously possible. This webcast will explore the new features in ECM Connector 2.0.
Please let me know if you have any questions,

Hi Heather,

links to a PDF:

When we open this we get a popup with the error "Cannot extract the embedded font 'MOELHK+Arial'. Some characters may not display or print correctly." Page 4 gives us a pop up "There were too many arguments", and comes up blank. Pages 5 and 6 are also blank apart from the banner. A colleague of mine downloaded the same file on his PC and encountered the same error.
There is no help on the Adobe website, and a google search suggests that the document creator be advised when this error is encountered. Can you please advise?
Thanks,
John

Hi,
We are currently writing up a proposal for a customer and are trying to understand an aspect of the ECM Connector 2.
Page 22 of "ecm.20.g.pdf" says:
"You can insert links to WorkSite MP documents into FormsPublisher. Depending on your presentation template, this link is subsequently represented as a hyperlink in the generated Web page."
Can someone tell us what exactly happens to the WorkSiteMP document once it is linked to from a TeamSite Form? Does the document get pulled down into TeamSite? If so, where? If not, how does OpenDeploy know what path to deploy it to?
We would appreciate any clarification of this issue.
Thanks!
John

For WSMP files, you have two primary options:
1) Leave the content in WSMP and have the webpage point (link) to the WSMP content. When the user clicks the link, the experience is just like when you use the WSMP "Send Link" option. The user will be taken to the WSMP WebUI, where they can use the "view" option to see the file content or use any of the other WSMP features. As you can see, this option is only suited for websites for a targeted user community that has access to WorkSite -- an intranet for example. The permission model in WSMP determines which users can actually view the files.
2) Have the connector copy the file contents (and metadata) into the TeamSite workarea. The location of the imported file depends on the "Destination" setting you provide in the Admin tab. The ECM Connector will create a directory structure below your destination that is roughly equivelent to the WSMP containment structure. Depending on how the DCT is configured, the import can happen when the user is browsing (we call this immediate import) or later when the Presentation Template is executed (we call this deferred import). In any case, this option ends up behaving much like any other content that lives in TeamSite. However, if you use the ContentCenter UI to edit the imported file, it will warn you that the file was imported from WSMP and recommend that changes are made in the source repository (it gives you a link to the WSMP UI).
I hope this helps,
Cliff (Engineering Manager for ECM Connector)
