Hello,
I'm trying to understand how BAM reporting relates to content reporting, rather than process-based reporting, and where to start when creating such a BAM report in xCP 2.1 (assuming it is even possible). I understand how BAM relates to reporting on processes and workflows (e.g. average duration, process throughputs, task completion times, etc), and there are a number of examples available on how to create configure the system to capture the relevant data and pass it to the BAM Server so that you can then create associated reports via xCP Designer.
However, what I can't seem to figure out (and whether or not it is even possible using BAM) is how to use BAM to create audit-style reports on content that might not be associated with a specific WF process but which users update outside of any sort of WF process.
So for example, I would like to create audit reports on updates to content metadata, who changed it, and what metadata was changed. I know that Content Server Auditing can capture this information (although natively it is not in a very usable format), but what I would like to know is whether or not (and how) one can capture this information and pass it to the BAM Server so that BAM reports (e.g. Crystal Reports) can be created against it? Since there may or may not be a "process" involved, how does one:
- configure the system to push the appropriate audit trail entries associated with content updates to the BAM database
- determine what tables (?) in the BAM database to query
- create an appropriate xCP query that can be used in xCP via Crystal Reports
I know that I could run reports directly against the DCTM Audit Trail table(s), but would prefer to run such reports against the BAM database so that we can purge the DCTM audit trail when it gets to be too large...
There does not appear to be any documentation on how to do something like this.
Any help on how/where to start would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
