How to set a users password with SDK?
jman
Hi,
Since the LDAP integration in WSMP do not include password (as LDAP protocol do not allow). But I'm trying to develop a portlet on a portal server for user to change password, when the portlet changes the password stored in the ldap, it also update the password in WSMP by using SDK. Is this possible? If so, what are those API required?
Thanks,
John

I am not sure about your portlet side implementation but Yes, you can change the password in WSMP using SDK. User class has the changePassword method to set the new password for WSMP users.

The changePassword method is form the user class. My understanding is that user object is created by the login method of the session object. In this way, the user's old password is required. So is it possible to set the password of a user without knowing the old/previous password?

you should be able to do it by getting an administrator user and changing the other user's password.
basically, get the library by using the administrator credentials and get the facility and look for the user whose password you want to change.
i found that i needed to use the setPropertyValue() method to change the user's password.
user.setPropertyValue("BASE:
ASSWORD", newPass);
