Base 6.02 to Base 6.02 - possibl
boskovuk
I know this should be ok, just wanted to confirm. Please, comment:
We have two Solaris boxes. Each one of them has Base OD (6.02). This setup should be ok, since 'base' on the receiving side is capable of receiving. Is this correct?
The only change required is to update ./etc/deploy.cfg file to include a reference to odrcvr.xml
#Deploy.serverConfig: odbase.xml
Deploy.serverConfig: odrcvr.xml
Are there are any other changes required on OD 'base' component in order for it to perform as a OD 'receiver'?

There is really no need to do this:
>>>
The only change required is to update ./etc/deploy.cfg file to include a reference to odrcvr.xml
#Deploy.serverConfig: odbase.xml
Deploy.serverConfig: odrcvr.xml
<<<
Simply
o configure the allowedHosts section in odbase.xml
o restart
o deploy

I've just read my initial post - apparently, it hasn't been specific enough.
I am concerned with 'receiving' side, i.e. the base component that will receive files. According to OD Install Guide 6.02 deploy.cfg file must be configured accordingly. This is copy/paste from that document:
The Deploy.serverConfig attribute’s value must point to the appropriate server configuration file depending on whether the server has base server or the receiver software installed. If you are using the default configuration files for these types of servers, then the attribute value would be one of the following:
Base server — Deploy.serverConfig: odbase.xml or
Receiver — Deploy.serverConfig: odrcvr.xml
If the server file has a different name than the default name listed here, then the Deploy.serverConfig attribute’s value must point to that file. You also must ensure that the server configuration file being pointed to resides in the server’s od-home/(odinstance)/etc directory.
I was wondering if there is something else that needs to be done in addition to above on the receiving side, where base version of OD 6.02 was installed (instead of receiver version of OD 6.02?

I believe Jed outlined it accurately.
For a Base Server to provide Receiver functionality - you have to edit its odbase.xml and define the allowedHosts section with respect to the *other* Base Server that will be comunicating with it. I.e.:
Base Server A -> Base Server B
Base Server B's odbase.xml contains:
...
<allowedHosts>
<node name="B">
<!-- loop-back-deployments -->
<allowedDirectories>
<path name="/apps/OpenDeployNG/tmp"/>
</allowedDirectories>
</node>
<node name="A">
<!-- remote-deployments -->
<allowedDirectories>
<path name="/apps/OpenDeployNG/tmp"/>
<path name="/iwmnt/default/main/www/WORKAREA/upload"/>
</allowedDirectories>
</node>
</allowedHosts>
Once you do that, then restart the BaseServer on B (/etc/init.d/iwod60 restart) and as long as you have the odnodes.xml on A designating a node for B, you can now deploy from A to B (if you change the odnodes.xml on A you need to restart the BaseServer there first)
You should
never
have an
odrcvr.xml
file on a BaseServer.
