Data Migration from eDocs to D2 4.5

Hi there, does anyone have a recommendation for a migration tool which will efficiently migrate 2.5 million documents from OpenTex eDocs v 6.05 to D2 v4.5 (which we shall be implementing around June/July 2015)?

Also, does anyone have a data migration strategy and approach which is tried and tested for approximately 2.5 million documents covering around 10 departments, the majority of data is legacy and only 25% is live (lessons learned would also be great). We envisage legacy data can be migrated at point of project GO and run in the background but are trying to get an idea of any downtime which the business will experience while we migrate the live data. I'd appreciate responses regarding thoughts on big bang vs bundling depts and migrating in sequential order migration.

Our EMC Certified partner – FME provides this, out-of-the-box tool – called “migration-center” that recently handled migrating 35 million docs into the WebTop and 5 million into D2. And...FME’s methodology typically supports users working while managing the delta typically over a weekend.

For such case you should consider different approach

1 - Ask your Profesional Service sales rep for a presentation of EMA (the specific migration tools of EMC) which provide an import functionality at database layer with good performance

2 - Look at the ETL market, you will find specific software such as Migration Center or open source one.

3 - Develop a specific tools for your business needs.

In all case, it's very important to check your source base (OpenText) and perform a cleaning before you export your document. Then, at the transformation step, define your transformation rule with your business user.
