Database update through TeamSite
Biswarup
Hi,
Following is the TeamSite environment for me.
TeamSite Verison - 6.5 SP 2
OS - Windows 2000 SP 4
Open Deploy version - 6.0.1
A database (MS SQL Server 2000) for some info is being maintained at client's place and this database needs to be updated regularly.
Can I update the database through TeamSite. If YES! please guide me "How To ?"
This requirement is very urgent; so request for a quick reply.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Biswarup.

In my understanding Data Deploy is a separate component like Open Deploy and I need to purchase the software from Interwoven.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
So, without Data Deploy, can I acheive the same within TeamSite and OpenDeploy.

DataDeploy is a reasonably convienient way of doing it, but does come at a cost.
Depending what you need to write to the database and when, there is nothing to stop you writing some Perl functions to make a DBI database connection and update the Db that way.
DCR fields/MetaData can be written to the Db from a call in a TPL <iw_perl> block.
TeamSite activites can be trapped using iwatXXX command line triggers - iwatcreate to capture file/directory creation, iwatupdate to capture Get Latest/Copy To events, etc (see Command Line Tools PDF for details).

Or you could use the OD adapter framework and write a java class that processes a file manifest.

All 6.x versions come Integrated OD and DD. And this module has DAS which will facilitate your deployments to the database.
Thanks

but one have to buy DD enabler module/license to start using DD component in OD 6.x

I guess you don't need DD enabler for OD6.0.2 and higher.
Thanks
