Facing Problem in email based Workflow

Hi,

Can anyone help me on the reason for something like this to happen?

When I instantiate the workflow through the UI (press the run job button after providing all the information like comments and author etc) & reach the email task I get this error message .

This happen with OOTB workflows as well as for our custom workflow(s)

Is this problem related to Perl modules as we are doing the migration from 5.5.2 to 6.5SP1. I even replaced & checked the Mailer.pm with the earlier version of TeamSite file.

Please suggest. Our Migration work is stopped because of that.

I think I remember seeing that one recently. Can you verify that your email_map.cfg is being parsed properly and is being passed to Mailer.pm?

(1,2) TS 6.5 on W2K3
(3) Vignette V7 Portal on Solaris 9

If you're using the OOTB solution workflow, what does iw_solutions_debug.log say? If not, are you logging things along the way and if so, where does it die?

My thought is that it's not capturing the email addresses properly so if you were to put in some additional logging, you may find out what the exact problem is. The exact solution would come next.

When you say you verified the mailserver entry in your iw.cfg - what did you do to verify it?
Did you try doing:

telnet 172.18.73.7 25

If not - then you didn't verify it.

yeah.. I did a telnet... it said...Connecting to 172.18.73.7.... and gave a blank command prompt window.

Did you include the '25' on the telnet command line after the IP address ?
If so - then yes - you verified the mailserver (just type QUIT and hit return at the empty prompt).
If you did not include the '25' - then all you did was telnet to the server and not to it's SMTP port.

There is one more possibility for that error. if the username is not configured properly in email_map.cfg.

In the sense if you missed out the username in email_map config or if you did any typo. you may recieve that error.
e.g the teamsite username is 'tmike' and email_map.cfg you have specified only 'mike' then there might be the problem.
