xCP 2.2 Send Mail Activity template

Hi,

I am using xCP v2.2. I have created a process(stateful) with sendmail activity template. As part of my work, i need to send out emails to people who are out side of my organization.. For that i have created e email endpoint for out going emails, but not successful so far in validating the connection. Problem here is port 25 for my organization SMTP server is restricted for security reasons, for this reason, i am unable to use organization's SMTP server for outgoing emails. I have tried using yahoo,gmail smtp host and port details in email endpoint configurations..it seems, org security policies blocked this as well.. i have got connection time out exceptions in testing the outgoing connection..

Any idea on how to solve this issue?

Jundging by the dump and the stack, the problem is an invalid cache. Given that the cache is a ConcurrentMap, a restart of the jms might help.

Is the problem in just accessing it from your developer machine? If this is the case, and that in production the Content Server would be able to communicate with the SMTP server, you can set up a local email server for your dev / test use. Endpoints allow you to define different settings for each target deployment, and so you can use unique values for Dev / Test and Prod.

Yes, The problem is accessing it from my machine(which is developer machine)..Any idea on how to setup local email server? We still do not have production infrastructure for xCP..We just have one environment for testing.. we are currently doing POC's to leverage xCP 2.2 features..

As i know , the server infrastructure(unix systems) dont have these restrictions.. What you say is if i keep gmail SMTP settings in email outgoing end point , it should work right? Any idea on how to avoid SSL issues, if i choose SSL encryption in endpoint configuration?

Not sure offhand about SSL (should be documented though) but yes, I would set up something like hMailServer locally (or on the test xCP environment) and connect my mail client to it for testing.

I have just installed hMailServer as you suggested.. I am getting permission denied exception to port 25 this time..is there any place in server settings we can change this port??

The port is defined in the endpoint…. I’m not sure how to troubleshoot hMailServer…..

You need to validate you have the dmc_xcp_app_config for your endpoint in the repository. Try running the following query

select r_object from dmc_xcp_app_config where config_name='orpoutgoing'.

If you got your endpoints id please validate this id is within the installedobjectid of your artifact bundle (xcp_artifact_bundle where object name is the name of your project.)
