private jre for webtop

Hello All,

We have 2 different applications that require 2 different versions of Java, one of them is webtop6.7( which is compatible with JRE 1.7.0_21 in our case) .

WebTop is not working as expected to be as there were multiple versions of java installed in the same machine, Our requirement is to customize webtop to user private jre irrespective of other java versions installed in the machine.

did any done this before?

Please help.

Hi Maddy,

Yes, you can use the Private JRE bundled up in UCF package, which gets installed to Client computers. Its of 32 bit and the version is 1.6 Update 27. You can make the changes on ucf.installer.config.xml file.

Hi Maddy,

Altering the parameters on the ucf.installer.config.xml file won't help you to download your desired version of JRE on User computers. It will download that version of Java, which is bundled up with your Webclient packager for e.g. the stable one : 1.6 Update 27 with Webtop 6.7 SPx

If your Users or Client requirement is for a specific version of Java( i.e. 1.7 Update 21) on all Users computers, you can reach out to your Local IT team, to push that version on all User computers & remove any higher or lower versions of JRE, along with disabling the option of 'Auto update' from Oracle's website.

Else, as suggested on other notes/links provided in my earlier reply, you can put in the required JRE ZIP on your Server location and need to modify the 'checksum' files, so that the Private JRE is your desired JRE version i.e. 1.7 update 21. It will involve resigning your applets & certificate by your key & sharing the same key to User computers as well.

Would recommend to opt for the Option #1, but choice is yours Buddy!
