Observation about "New Posts" link

System

When I click on this initially, fine. But if I hit ctrl-R to refresh the page, I would expect to see the updated list of new posts. Instead, I see the "old" list of new posts but those messages which have new responses are formatted correctly in bold text. It's not until I click on "New Posts" again that I see the updated list of new posts.

I can't believe that it was intentionally designed this way.

In case I was confusing, if there are 10 new messages initially when I click on "New Posts" and while I'm viewing that page or idling or whatever, 2 new messages are created and 3 of the visible 10 new messages are updated with a new post. If I instruct the browser to refresh the page, I don't see 12 new messages there. Instead, I see the old 10 new messages and the 3 which have new posts are bold (assuming they wouldn't be otherwise if I had read them). Shouldn't I see the 12 new messages?

Hey Dave, It just could have been designed that way
I notice that the actual done page shows some temp search ID
and the New Posts URL is showing a parameter do=getnew being passed

That seems so strange if it was intentionally done this way. Could someone provide some insight? I would think it'd be more usable if requesting the New Posts page provides

consistent content regardless of how you got there (clicking on the link versus refresh).

Dave,

In my test environment as well as this production it is giving me same results for Refresh or by clicking on "New Posts" link.

Has this happened consistently like this for you? Just so I could eliminate a doubt that maybe when you were seeing this, there was no new post actually added.

Which browser are you using? Just so I could look for specific items.

Ravio,
Each search call is first stored in a table and assigned an ID. That is used for repeat/similar searches. That is the reason you see a temp SearchID in the URL. do=getnew is being passed to search script to instruct that it is not a system wide search. Within code it will pick this parameter and work accordingly. It's a common script for multiple search features hence the query string.
