Anti Virus in Mediabin server

Hi,

Is MediaBin server capable of virus scanning an uploaded file which may contains virus?
or
How can I configure an antivirus like Symantec or other to do this security issue?

I am afraid not. We have not had any reports I know of, of users experiencing viruses in their images but there is always a first and I would like to hear other people's experience.

We have had problems with virus scanning turned on in the ImageDB directory as it has the unexpected effect of locking files up (actually some people use automated backup software that has the same effect if not used in conjunction with MBBackup).

My best suggestion would be to use hot folders to stage assets in adirectory specifically scanned by virus protection prior to ingest.

Does the new version of mediabin has any mechanism for virus scan? How about securing the transfer directory with antivirus? I believe this would need some code change in ASP code of mediabin web client? We are exposing the webclient to external agencies and are worried only about the webclient.
