REST Service contains filter on custom attributes

Does anybody know if the Documentum REST services support using a contains filter on a custom attribute? When we use contains for object_name everything works fine but when we try a custom attribute we receive an HTTP 400 error: (DM_QUERY_E_NOT_ATTRIBUTE) [DM_QUERY_E_NOT_ATTRIBUTE]error: "You have specified an invalid attribute name (doc_type).

If this functionality is not supported - will it be in the future?

Currently DCTM REST Services filter properties only apply to the base types, even though a type() function is used together. It might be possible that this feature will included in future release.

Thanks for validating this for me! Hopefully this functionality will be available in future releases as it seems like it would be a common use case for clients of the REST service.

Santosh's observation is right. Tolerant attributes filter is quite useful and had been discussed in the first place when we implemented the filter. However, due to the underlying API limitation, it is not supported.

There is one improvement in REST 7.2 that an additional parameter q can be used on the resource to do simple full-text search, e.g., ../documents?filter=&inline=true&view=:all&q=foo. As though, it may not return the exact number of collection items as expected for doc_type contains "foo" because this is a fuzzy search for all meta and contents on documents.

In next release, we will bring another parameter which works with filter to do the real custom attributes filter for specific collection sub types. Please stay tuned.

Great - thank you for the clarification William! Do you know if the upcoming release will also support sorting on custom attributes as that does not appear to working currently either?

Yes, custom attributes are allowed to put into the sort spec, but repeating attributes won't be allowed.
