Css for Textarea Editor

Hi,

How to configure the text area to have seperate css.I cannot use the Global visualformatconfig.xml bcos it will affect my other branches also.So i need the editor to have specific css based on which workarea they are or based od which for they are.

This is in the manuals. You can call custom textarea config files within the datacapture call out.

I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but in the datacapture.cfg you should be able to see where it is calling the Textarea config file. Just create a new config file in the same location with the options you want and call your config from the datacapture.cfg instead.

Q. How to set/customize VF's CSS.
A. Documentation on the topic is limited. In the past I did some modifications to "ektnormal.css" - with limited success.
In any case, this is a global change for all instances. Perhaps you would be able to find more on Ektron site

Not necessarily. If you're (not you, Boris, but Leoh) customizing your config -- which it looks like you'll have to do -- you can specify a different css. ektnormal.css is a setting in visualformatconfig.xml, from which you can deviate. So, if you set this to something else and in that css define a "textarea" class, that would seem to be sufficient.

Dave, are you talking about <style> tag? If so, have you really tried multiple custom css's?
I had few issues with that mechanism before and ended up modifying ektnormal.
Abandoned all these efforts long time ago, not worth it - not for my project back then anyway.

In theory, sure. Btw, there is no textarea class.

The problem is different though. Normally you can not control what classes eWebEditPro Object applies and how it applies it.
So, you (or rather I) ended up trying to map my site classes to Ektron's and modify the latter so it renders like the former.
With deep (and constantly changing) site cascading and shallow VF cascading it's a dreadfull task.
As I said, I dropped all efforts of that nature long time ago. Think we digressed enough from the thread topic...

You do? The thread topic is "CSS for Textarea Editor" and we're discussing... well... the CSS for the textarea editor. I don't think we're off-topic at all but I didn't realize the pain in actually trying to implement this. Like I said, I haven't had a need to try this but in theory it should probably be this simple.
