how to datadeploy (6.0.2) by locale

Hi All,

I am using OD-DD 6.0.2 and trying to deploy japanese metadata characters to database. The db shows garbled characters as "????"
I am simply copying and pasting some charcters in japanese language while metatagging through the GUI.

My current locale env variable is empty (Show environment>>: IW_LOCALE=)
and the LOCALE settings in the unix(server) machine is en_US as of now.

Not sure..Changing the locale settings would help or not? I still want to see all the menu items in GUI as usual in english.

any clue?

Do the Japanese characters also appear garbled in the output/presentation ?
What is the encoding you are using?
Is the DB schema using the same encoding or a different one?

if u want to ask that how do charcters show up in dcr(presentation/output). Yeah they are are garbled like this

TeamSite/Metadata/Keyword=Testing ...ã±ã¤ãã³ã¹ã»ãã¶ã¤ã³ã»ã·ã¹ãããºç¤¾æä¾ã¦ã
TeamSite/Metadata/Language=EUC-JP
TeamSite/Metadata/Language/English=y

database field uses these values i.e database schema uses the same encoding as what i chose in metadata.
Not sure what encoding is being used by OD? How and where do we set it?

viewing the environment variables as shown in GUI (choosing View>> Show environment menu)-- iw_locale is not set(empty)

locale on the server where OD is installed shows following output:

If you look at the file properties on the file is the metadata properly formatted? Are you trying to normalize around UTF-8? What is the locale on the DB server?

What are your environment details such as OS platform, version, od/dd version, etc...
