xms agent allows only one environment

Hi,

We have a development environment setup for xcp 2.2. xms agent is configured with one environment already.

We have 3 apps under implementation in parallel. This will impact each other in team whenever there is an app server restart.

I am trying to create a second environment to be able to deploy xcp applications on a 2nd app server for testing. But when I click on create environment button in xms agent, it shows me a popup box with message.

xmsAgent allows only One Environment

"There is already an existing environment. No more environments can be registered."

I need help to understanding why such restriction is in place. Is this normal? or Do I need to make any change in settings to be able to use multiple environments?

This is a limitation with xMS unfortunately.

But I want to find out if it can work when we set a custom value in blueprint xml available under xms-tools.

May be it is not related to environments settings, I'm making a guess to try and see.

One more question,

Is there any alternate way to deploy xcp 2.2 applications without using xms ?

Have you read the xcp 2.2 release notes? I vaguely remember that using xms was no longer a requirement to deploy in 2.2. If it isnt in there, then I think this is in the next release of xcp.

good news, unfortunately it has taken 3 years for EMC to understand the usefulness of xms

That is really a good news. And the xms dependency exists for xcp 2.2 as well.

We shall look forward for the next release. Hope to get it soon.
