URGENT : Need to generate two html files on click on Generate button

Hi ,

Using TS 6.5 SP1 on Win 2003 .

The generate button allows us to specify only one html file . we have a requirment in which we have to create two html file at one go (of different name but contents are identical in both ).

If we use generate button it has the limitation that we can specify only one target html file .

Is there any way to generate two different html files ?

They name of second html file can be derived form first one .

Suppose first html file name is 'home.html' . Second html file name will be 'sec_home.html'.

What I thought was that , in tpl code only at the last i will have a tag . There I will call 'iwpt_compile.ipl'..to generate the second html file .

At present I was doing POC so I have hardcoded the parameters of iwpt_compile.ipl .

This code is not working . It is not giving error ....but it is taking lot of time . It is creating the first file which I had given in Generate Dialog box . But it did not create 'sec_home.html'

A customised script need to be executed on click of Generate button as what you want to do. Moreover... if you search on devnet you would find more options as well.

That is a very ineffiecent way of doing it, though it should work. For a one shot deal, that would not be bad.

However I always iw_ostream out to a second file. Check the PT help pages.

4. Mentioned the target html page in generate dialog box ( ie., home.html)

Could u please suggest me the change that i need to do in my above tpl code so that proper 'home.html' should be created which should be exact copy of 'sec_home.html' .

If you want to duplicate the page contents then you need to provide the contents both within, and outside the iw_ostream directives. Personally, I prefer coding the whole thin in Perl - stuffing the entire generated contents into a scalar variable ($html) and then using basic Perl I/O to create all the pages. You could probably doing something similar with iw_ostream too.

In either case though, keep in mind that the additional pages will not have the EA's set on them that indicate they are generated pages unless you make sure to create those EAs for them manually.
