Filename in TeamSite does not match filename on filesystem via perl

I have a document in TeamSite 5.5.2 that has an accented character in the name.. ie



POLITICA_DE_ASIGNACION_GASTOS_VEHÍCULO_PROPIO-RD-MY_HR.doc



I want to operate on this file from a perl cgi. I need to do some parsing of this file and then delete it.



However, when I pass in the file name into perl and I do a "if ( -e $filename)" perl can't find it because on the disk it is stored as



POLITICA_DE_ASIGNACION_GASTOS_VEHICULO_PROPIO-RD-MY_HR.doc



Note: the missing accent over the I in VEHICULO.
Explorer and the commandline do not agree on the name of the file.


So my question is:

How do I get the local file name of a vpath via perl?


Or

How can a delete a file via the vpath from perl?

I tried the code below and it is working fine, found no problem what so ever with any character as file name, can you share the code.

Have you checked that your method of retrival of file name is correct? may be the problem lies there only and not at (-e $filename).
