can we initiate workflow on clicking 'Preview'

Hi ,

Using TS 65 SP1 win 2003

Can we activate workflow on clicking preview button ?

I read the manual . We can activate WF only on following :

! submit (submitting files)
! assign (assign button or menu item)
! new_job (new job)
! new_TFO_job (new job, in TeamSite FrontOffice)
! tt_data (saving FormsPublisher data records)
! tt_deletedcr (deleting FormsPublisher data records in ContentCenter Standard only)

If yes then any pointers on this .

Never tried, but believe we can; the manual says so (Page 101 TS650a.wf)

The answer would be No... rather you can customize the preview button. On click of the same .. you can call your own script.

Umm, actually the answer is not NO. Without customizing the Preview link, you could, from your presentation template which generates the previewed page, detect whether the page being generated is a result of a "preview" or a "generate page" instruction and based on this, kick off a workflow.

I have no idea what your business needs are but this is somewhat of a kludge but it should absolutely work.

I believe that note is erroneous and should have been removed - it was based on some workflow builder bogosity that never worked as far as I know.

If you want to initiate a workflow on Preview (why? it seems like a mistake to me) you can do so by catching/trapping the click on the Preview button with an event handler and then having your event handler run a script via CallServer() which can then invoke a workflow on the TS server - that's a lot of additional work for very questionable gain - because a DCR may be previewed a dozen times before the contributor believes that they are done with the changes they wish to make - and you would be in effect running a dozen different workflows with the exact same file associated with them at the same time.

This means you are saying to invoke the workflow from the presentation template... but that i think that does not fulfill the requirements as it is totally a different thing to invoke a workflow from PT or on click of Preview button.
