Is anyone familiar with the following error, which appears in our Index Manager log file since upgrading from 8.0 to 8.2?

(This repeats for the second index collection on the server. I've included a more complete log output below for context.)
We've been playing with the upgrade on our test server, but we seem to be getting this error no matter what we try.
The system is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, with Worksite Server and Worksite Index Manager (and Worksite Index Search) running on the same system. Worksite Server seems to have upgraded fine, and can be connected to from DeskSite 8.2, but Index Manager's now having this problem. At present in our test environment, all processes are running as administrators.
We did run the DocIndexReflag.exe utility immediately after upgrading to indicate we'd like the collections reindexed, and I'm unsure if it's related. Unfortunately we neglected to check if the index manager was having problems before running it.
I've tried a few things with no luck. eg. Temporarily giving 'Everyone' access to both the file share and the index share, to rule out the possibility that it might be fileshare access problems. I've also been experimenting with temporarily changing some of the paths in the mhgroup.docservers and mhgroup.index_collection tables.
I'm wondering if there's a something that might not have installed correctly, or an assembly that didn't get registered properly, or something, hence the apparent error calling the indexer process. We've uninstalled and reinstalled the Interwoven Indexer once already, however, with no luck.
